OTATARA CAMPERS
MEETING OF THE AQUATIC CLUB. SUCCESSFUL YEAR COMPLETED. The annual meeting of the Otatara Campers Aquatic club was held in the Y.M.C.A. Rooms last evening the President Mr Andrew Wilson taking the Chair. There were present Messrs G. Todd, J. Strettel H. Troon F. Blick, W. Cook and P. Barlow (Secretary). ANNUAL REPORT. The Club’s first annual report was submitted by the committee and showed that since its inauguration in February 1923 a successful swimming carnival had been held on February 27, 1924. The Club was in a good financial position and it was desirable to erect ladies’ dressing sheds for the 1924-25 season. The Club costumes were to hand and could be obtained from the Secretary. The balance sheet showed a credit balance of £8 3/4. In moving the adoption of the report and balance sheet, the Chairman said that in his opinion the year was a most successful one and the fact that they had come out with such a handsome balance after one year’s working said much for the good work members had done. The report and balance sheet was seconded by Mr W. Cook and adopted without comment. ELECTION OF OFFICE-BEARERS. The following officers were elected for the coming season: — President—Dr R. Crawford. The question of erecting a ladies’ dressing shed was discussed, the Chairman suggesting that in view of the finances in hand the project could well be gone on with. It was decided that the committee should go fully into the matter and arrange for the
construction of the shed. The committee was also instructed to decide upon a suitable date for the carnival. Mr Barlow said that the costumes were now on hand and he would like to see every member in possession of one. A dozen had already been distributed but there were still 10 to dispose of. He would suggest that the Club should take over the balance from the suppliers. The matter of distributing the costumes was left to the committee to deal with. It was decided that the Southland Ladies’ Championship Hockey team and Messrs J. Richardson and A. White the Southland All Black representatives should be made complimentary members for the ensuing season.
