The monthly meeting of the Wyndham Town Board was held in the Board room on Monday evening, when the followng Councillors were present:—John Millar (Chairman), Geo. Hunter, E. J. A letter was received from the So s uth Sea Exhibition Co. dealing with the admission to the Exhibition, and asking the Board to convene a meeting of local public bodies, to appoint a delegate for the purpose of attending a meeting at Invercargill, where matters dealing with the Exhibition would be discussed.—Received.

A letter was received from the Health Officer, reporting on the Zealandia Hall in regards granting license. —Received. The Superintendent of the Fire Brigade wrote, advising that he would be in Wyndham in a few days, and would inspect the hall as requested by the Board. MATAURA. ANGLING CLUB. A meeting of the Committee of the Mataura Angler’s Club was held in McErlean’s room on Tuesday. A letter was received from Mr Haydon, secretary of the Wyndham Anglers’ Club, stating that the annual triangular competitions would be held on the Wyndham River on November 19. The secretary intimated that he had received a donation of 10/- each from Messrs J. Adam and D. Daly.—Received with thanks. Mr M. Maley intimated that Mr W r . Coster had stated his willingness to donate a trophy to the value of £2 10/- to the Club. —Mr Coster to be thanked for his donation, and the Committee to arrange for a competition for the trophy. Messrs J. McErlean, W. Leitch and M. Maley were appointed to select the team for the triangular competition. GORE. SCHOOL COMMITTEE. (From our Correspondent). Through various causes, the October meeting of the Gore School Committee had to be postponed till Tuesday evening, when there were present:—Messrs A. Speden (chair), D. A. Dunn (secretary), A. A. Rose, J. Harper, J. P. Wylie and Dr. J. J. Gresham. The Headmaster’s report showed for the past month an average roll number of 497.9 (258.7 boys and 239.2 girls) and an average attendance of 453.3 (237.8 boys and 215.5 girls), yielding an attendance percentage of 91 per cent. This percentage shows a slight drop from the school’s general record, but is accounted for in large measure by the fact that a recent big addition to the roll comprised many very young children, and it is only reasonable to expect some fluctuation in the attendance of these tiny tots. A sheaf of correspondence regarding routine matters was received, and accounts (relating to both general school work and the grounds improvement scheme) aggregating £B6 14/9 were passed for payment. This year’s quota of the plan for beautifying the grounds of the school is now complete except for alterations to the concrete wall on the street frontage, and this matter was left in the hands of the chairMr W. K. Hamilton and Dr. Gresham were appointed a Visiting Committee for the ensuing month.
