DRUMMOND SOCIETY. ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the Diammond Athletic Society was held in the Drummond Hall last night, Mr T. Shearer, President, occupying the chair. There was a good attendance of members. The annual balance sheet disclosed a small debit, Mr G. E. McAhan stating that some small accounts had to be adjusted. The total debit would be about £2 on the year’s working. The Chairman said the sports come out well financially in spite of the fact that the prize money had been increased. The entries were bigger and the sports wre better than the previous year. Taking the sports right through they were good and the class of competitors was much better. The secretary reported that the Society had a balance of £l7 19s 8d in the Invercargill Savings Bank. This was not included in the balance sheet which was only a statement of receipts and expenditure for the year. The balance sheet was adopted. The Chairman thanked them for the interest they had taken in the sports. Everyone worked in harmony and they had a good meeting. He was indebted to the Committee for the manner in which they worked to provide the grounds for the meeting. The following office-bearers were elected: President, Mr T. Shearer ; secretary, Mr G. E. McAhan; treasurer, Mr D. Brown; Committee. Messrs A. McFarlane, J. O’Meara, A. Chilton, R. McDonald, D. Brown, J. Lindsay, W. Lindsay, G. Lindsay, 8. Ferguson, I). Lilico, D. Jones, E. Jones, J. Kincaird, G. Cattp, D. Sloan, A. Creighton, D. and W. Stalker, T. Callanan, J. Forde, D. Coakley and R. Lindsay. It was decided to hold the sports on Saturday, December 20, subject to the approval of the Centre. To assist in the establishment of chopping events Mr T. Callanan said he would undertake to supply thirty logs on the ground for the chopping events. The inclusion of piping and dancing and chopping and sawing in the prospective programme was discussed and it was decided to add piping and dancing only to the programme. It was decided to put on a tabloid schools competition, the arrangements being left to Mr R. McDonald. The drawing up of the events was left in the hands of the Programme Committee, the amount of-the prize money not to exceed £5O. The Committee appointed consisted of Messrs T. Shearer, G. E. McAhan, I). Brown, R. Chilton, D. Jones and G. Lindsay. The membership fee was fixed at os for the incoming year. It was decided to ask Mrs A. Wilson if she would place a paddock at the disposal of the Society for the annual gathering. With regard to the luncheon booth, th* Chairman was instructed to interview th* P.W.M.U., and ascertain if the ladies were willing to run the booth again on the same conditions as last year. A special vote of thanks to the South, land Times for its interest in the doings nt the Society was carried by acclamation.
