STATE OF THE RIVERS
NEWS NOTES FOR THE ANGLERS. At 5 p.m. yesterday the state of the undermentioned rivers was as follows:—. The Oreti: Reports of the Oreti River from Dipton and Winton state that this river is clear and free from snow water and is in excellent fly-flshing condition. The Makarewa is in better condition at the present time than has been the case since the opening of the present fishing season. The Aparima: Reports from Otautau and Thornbury state that this river is clear and in excellent fishing condition. Mimihau: The Mimihau is rather low and clear, but is in good order for fly fishing. Wyndham: The Wyndham is in good order for fly fishing. Mataura: Some good catches have been reported within the last few days from the Mataura and the river is in good order. Waikiwi: The Waikiwi is in* good order and some nice fish have been taken from thia stream in the evenings. Waimatuku: The Waimaiuku is in good order for fly fishing and should provide good sport during the week. Orawia: Thia river is on the clear side, but is in good order for fly fishing.
