The Consul for Norway, in Hobart, states that he has received hundreds of applications from all over the Commonwealth and New Zealand for twenty-five positions on the whaling steamer, Sir James Clarke Ross, which leaves Stewart Island at the end of November for the Ross Sea. One applicant came from Java.
