A CHANCE FOR THE CAMERA! First Photographic Competition. With the object of stimulating interest in Photography in the province, the Southland Times announces its First Photographic Competition. The Competition will be divided into three grades and certain subjects demanded as under:— CLASS I. (Open to Members of the Invercargill Camera Club*. Four Prints to be submitted—ONE under EACH of the following headings:— (a) LANDSCAPE. (c) PORTRAIT. (b) SEASCAPE. (d) OPEN-AIR ACTION PICTURE. Points will be awarded, and the Competitor securing the Largest Number of Points will be declared the winner. FIRST PRIZE: £5 5/-. SECOND PRIZE: £2 2/-. CLASS 2.—(Open to all Amateurs, except Members of the Invercargill Camera Club). Two prints to be submitted—ONE under EACH of the following headings:— (a) LANDSCAPE OR SEASCAPE. (b) OPEN-AIR ACTION PICTURE FIRST PRIZE; £3 3/-. SECOND PRIZE: £1 1/-. CLASS 3—(Open to Amateurs Under the Age of 21 Years). OPEN-AIR ACTION PICTURE. FIRST PRIZE: £1 1/-. SECOND PRIZE 10/6. CONDITIONS. 1. Competitors are Not Limited to any number of prints. 2. All entries will be judged as pictorial photographs, and also from the viewpoint of their suitability for reproduction in the Southland Times. 3. ‘‘Open-Air Action Pictures” includes any picture in which human beings or animate are represented m activities out-of-doors, and therefore embraces’Sports, Picnics, Etc. 4. The exclusive right is reserved to reproduce in the Southland Times any print submitted, payment being made for any prints used. 5. In every case photographs must be of a Southland subject. 6. The Editor of the Southland Times will be judge, and his decision in all matters will be final. 7. Prints entered in the Competition must be sent to the Southland Times Office, addressed to the Editor, and marked clearly “Photographic Competition,” and the Class in which they are entered. S. Each print must bear a Title, and the Name of the Competitor. 9. All prints must be in the Southland Times Office on or before DECEMBER 24, at 5 p.m.
