King, U Spences; X Stevenson* and H. W. Buffelk. Apologies we received fa® Messrs W. 0. Ennis, D. Rutledge, and R. M. Strang. The secretary of the Decimal Association, London, wrote advising the Chamber of the Decimal-Metric Congress, and asking for the Chamber’s support of the proposal to urge the British Government to alter the existing coinage and measuring systems.— Received.
The secretary of the Royal Railways Commission wrote advising that the Commission would arrive in Invercargill to-day, and inviting evidence from the Chamber on railway masters. —The matter was left in the hands of the President (Mr Hoyles) and Mr GiiUdson to take such steps as they deemed necessary.
A communication was received from the New Zealand Chambers of Commerce Association, enclosing agenda paper for the Wanganui conference on November 19 and 20. —Received, Mr A. H. Meekrell to be asked to represent the Invercargill Chamber at the Dominion Conference.
The secretary of the New Zealand Electrical Traders’ Federation wrote soliciting the support of the Chamber in making representations to the Government against trading operations of Power Boards and local government bodies.—Received, it being decided that the Chamber should support the Federation in the best manner possible.
The Leicester Chamber of Commerce wrote requesting the names of Invercargill hardware houses for business purposes. — The secretary was instructed to forward a list of firms to the Leicester Chamber.
J. A. Redpath and Sons, Christchurch, wrote enclosing a letter received from the London and North Eastern Railway Co., by them, inquiring about products from New Zealand to Hull.—Received.
The District Traffic Manager of the Railway Department wrote advising alterations in timetable, to take effect from December 17.—1 t was decided that the Chamber protest against the Department not altering the timetable in time for the Summer Show.
The Stratford Chamber of Commerce wrote enclosing the remits forwarded by them to the Dominion Conference, and requesting the support of the Invercargill Chamber.—Received, the matters to be referred to the Conference delegates. Messrs A. le H. Hoyles and R. M. Strang were appointed to act as representatives of the Chamber to the Central Committee of the Southland Court at the New Zealand and South Seas Exhibition.
