“GOOD BYE ETHEL”
YOUNG GIRL DISAPPEARS ANOTHER AUCKLAND SENSATION (Per United Press Association.) AUCKLAND, October 30. The mysterious disappearance of a girl named Ethel May Lane, aged 15|, from the Supreme Court building on Wednesday morning is causing great concern to her relatives. The girl was to have been an important witness in a criminal trial from Waihi, but she did not have to give evidence, as accused pleaded guilty. He was sentenced to twelve months’ reformative detention, and on leaving the dock, is stated to have called out to the girl: “Good-by Ethel.” She was considerably affected, and became somewhat hysterical. After leaving the Court room the girl was seen by her brother to go into the ladies’ waiting room.
Since then .all trace of her has been lost.
