A CLOSE THING
FAMILY TRAPPED BY FIRE. CHRISTCHURCH, September 11. When fire broke out early this morning in a two-storied house in Ferry road, occupied by Mr A. E. Stevens, he, with his wife and their two children, had a narrow escape. Mr Stevens was forced to jump from a window on to the roof of the verandah, with one of the children in hie arms. They were awakened by the smoke, and had no time to dress.
