FIERY SPECTACLE

EXPLOSION OF TURPENTINE. (By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright.) (Australian and N.Z. Cable Association.) LONDON, August 24. A fire in an enamel factory at Dalston provided a remarkable spectacle. Exploding drums of turpentine were hurled hundred of feet into the air, and fell on neighbouring houses, escaping streams of oil and varnish penetrating everywhere and enveloping the place in flames. In all, 25 fire engines fought the outbreak. A failing wall fatally injured two firemen. The damage amounts to £30,000.
