ABOUT PEOPLE

Mr W. D. Hunt arrived in Invercargill by the late express last night, and is staying at the Grand Hotel. A Nelson telegram states that Mr J. G. M. Brewster, Engineer to the Akitio County Council, has been . appointed Engineer to the Waimea County out of twenty-three applicants. A vote of sympathy with the widow and relatives of the late Mr C. 11. Cole, who had been master of the Lome Farm since 1901, was passed by the members of the Hospital Board at the monthly meeting yesterday. Mr T. D. Burnett, M.P. for Temuka, is slowly recovering from his indisposition. It is anticipated that he will be able to leave the private hospital in Dunedin this week, but it is uncertain when he will be able to resume his Parliamentary duties. Mr B. R. Sword, who was formerly attached to the District staff of the local Railway Offices, has been appointed District Traffic Manager at Greymouth in succession to Mr J. L. Morgan, who has retired on superannuation.
