AMERICAN MEDICAL SCANDALS. DRAWING THE NET. (By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright.) (Australian and N.Z. Cable Association.) SAN FRANCISCO, July 8. (Received July 10, 1 a.m.). The State’s action against those men concerned in the medical frauds resulted in the Grand Jury indictment of 19 physicians, involving allegations that they operated a so-called “diploma mill,” or were beneficiaries thereunder. The indictments followed the hearing of the State Board of Medical Examiners, at which a journalist from Missouri,, who entered the school in order to study its methods, gave damaging testimony concerning the means whereby truthful students were victimised. Among the physicians indicted .was one from Maryland, and nine Californians, the balance being from Missouri, including Dr. A. D. Cox, who is serving a two years’ sentence for bribery. The frauds indicate that St. Louis, Missouri, Is the centre of operations. Missouri official representatives are following closely every indictment and trial in order to tighten the net around the remaining suspects.
