SIR ROBERT STOUT
SILVER JUBILEE OF CHIEF JUSTICE. SHIP. (Per United Press Association.) AUCKLAND, June 24. At a gathering of members of the Bar felicitating Sir Robert Stout on his Silver Jubilee as Chief Justice, Mr Justice Stringer said he thought they might well designate His Honour as the Grand Old Man of the Australasian Judiciary bearing as he had the burden of 80 years. His Honour’s mental energies were still astonishing, and he still did more judicial work than any other individual judge upon the Bench. In addition to this, as had been stated by Mr Johnstone, Sir Robert found time for a variety of other mental activities. It seemed as though “age could not wither nor custom stale his infinite variety.” To the members of the Bench he had endeared himself k>y his amiability, accessibility and readiness at all times to grant advice and counsel out of his great store of knowledge. He was always willing to place at the * disposal of his brother Judges all the wisdom he possessed.
