“FAKE” PHYSICIANS

THE AMERICAN SCANDAL. ENERGETIC REPRESSIVE MEASURES. (By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright.) (Australian and N.Z. Cable Association.) NEW YORK, February 16. (Received February 17, 5.5 pun.) The City Health authorities, after a month’s investigation, have launched a campaign against “fake” physicians, a considerable number of whom are believed to be practising in New York. Four arrests were made to-day—all among the foreign element. The authorities at the same time begun a publicity campaign against quack practitioners, 51 of whom are named, ranging from aeriotherapy, autotheracy and biodya-mechromatic-therapy to electro-humopar thy, mechanotherapy and telatheray. Various individuals holding so-called diplomas from special institutions which teach these sciences have lodged a protest with the city authorities, and some have even started legal action with the purpose of compelling the authorities to remove the names of their cures from the publicity material. Dr Vincent, President of the Rockefeller Foundation, declared that quackery would exist in America until the general intellectual level was raised.
