The wreck of the Armagh means a serious loss to the underwriters, says the latest issue to hand of the Shipping World. Although the hull of the vessel was not insured in the open market, she had on board a valuabue cargo estimated at worth £500,000 on which insurances had been effected. The vessel was bound for Australian ports and her cargo consisted chiefly of textiles and machinery. Latest reports of the wreck indicate that most of this cargo is submerged, so that even if salvage could be ultimately carried out the value of the textile goods would be practically nil. This disaster is a grave misfortune to the underwriting market, bringing to a close a year which in any case has been far from prosperous. SHIPPING TELEGRAMS. (Per United Press Association.)
