SPIRITUAL HEALING

MR HICKSON’S MISSION. The carrying on of the work commenced by him by way of prayer circles is the chief concern of Mr J. M. Hickson at present. Speaking to a Lyttelton Times reporter Mr Hickson said that the holidays had delayed matters slightly. The Archbishop would shortly communicate with the bishops with a view to putting the work on a proper basis throughout the Dominion. It is expected that a uniform scheme will be decided upon in order to revive this portion of the Churche’s work under proper sanctions and safeguards. “There is a general awakening to this portion of the work of the Church throughout the world,” said Mr Hickson, “and I think that the time is ripe for the message. The mission has brought members of all denominations into communion together into one Church of Christ. The spirit shown has been truly Christian and I think that the seed will grow and kindlier feelings to all will result.”

“From every centre I am daily receiving fresh accounts of physical and spiritual healing and of blessings received,” said the missioner. He continued that the reresults are very satisfactory, and he showed a bundle of letters which arrived yesterday fro mthe patients of one institution, all testifying to the beenfit they have received. “Not only physical, but great spiritual blessing has been received,” said Mr Hickson.

“I feel deeply gratified for the way I have been received and the way my message has been taken up,” he added, “for, after all, it is the message, and not the messenger that counts. Member of all denominations have attended the sendees and have received benefit and a great awakening has taken place.”
