PARLIAMENTARY TOUR
VISIT TO SOUTHLAND. TENTATIVE PROGRAMME ARRANGED. In connection with the forthcoming Parliamentary tour, the Southland League has arranged a tentative programme by which during their few days’ stay in Southland the visitors will be given an opportunity ol seeing all parts of the province. Altogethei 20 members of Parliament have accepted the League’s invitation to take part in the tour, which wil! commence on Wednesday next. It was anticipated that the Otago Expansion League would participate in extending the tour by meeting the visitors at Queenstowp and conducting them through Otago Central, but it is now understood thai this idea has been abandoned. The itinerary arranged is as follows: Wednesday: Leave Invercargill at 8.30 a.m. for Riverton and Tuatapere thence to Monowai arriving there in time for lunch. Several hours will be spent at Monowai, the party proceeding from there to Otautau and after tea will proceed to Winton. On Thursday cars will leave Invercargill for Winton to join the party which will be conveyed through Hedgehope, Rakahouka, Dacre, Edendale, Mataura to Wyndham, where a stop will be male for lunch. In the afternoon the party will return to Invercargill via Mataura Island, Seaward Down and Rimu. Friday’s programme will be taken up with miscellaneous trips and probably a halfday will be spent at Bluff. On Saturday the party leaves Invercargill about 8 a.m. for Gore and after a short stay there will be motored to Lumsden in time to connect with the train to Kingston. The week-end will be spent at Quenstown.
