Cargoes are firm on shipments of th? new crops from Australia and the Argentine, being scarcely up to expectations, while firmness in freights is also a strengthening factor. Parcels are firm at 3|d higher but there is small trade. F. BOWDEN L CO. F. Bowden and Co report quantities of fruit arriving are short of requirements. Peaches, plums, tomatoes, pears and apples are more plentiful, but supplies are not equal to demand. Apricots are nearly finished; supplies are diminishing daily. Nectarines are wanted. Banwwss, oranges and lemons are available. Cabbages are arriving most mornings, but they are hard to quit at payable prices. Lettuce are almost unsaleable. Potatoes are more plentiful. We have good stocks of fowl wheat on hand. The week closed with prices ruling:— Plums, lfd to 3fd; apricots, 2Jd to 4d; peaches, 24d to 4d; pears, 3d; tomatoes, local hothouse, 8d to lid, Christchurch hothouse to 7d, outdoor 3|d to 5d lb; lemons, double cases, 50/-; oranges, double cases, 45/-; bananas, 27/- case ; grapes, ”1/9 to 2/- lb; apples, cooking, 7/- case; apples, dessert, 6/6 to 7/- half-case. Vegetables, Produce, Etc.—Beet, 14d lb; cucumbers, hothouse, 5/- dozen, outdoor 8/6 to 12/- bushel case; lettuce, 6d to 2/dozen; potatoes, IJd to 24d lb; fowl wheat, 22/6, sacks in; cauliflower, 3/- to 9/- dozen; cabbage, 1/6 to 2/6 dozen; green peas, 2id lb; carrots, 1/6 dozen bunches; rhubarb, 2d lb; Victorian onions, 11/- cwt.
