EGYPT
THE NEW REGIME. (Reuter’s Telegram). CARIO, January 27. (Received January 28, 120 a.m.) Zaghlul, in his speech at a banquet held in his honour and which was attended by 195 deputies, said he esteemed it fortunate that the British Ministry had obtained the power which was well disposed to uphold the principles of right and justice. The Egyptians were prepared to confer with this Ministry with a view to obtaining real independence while, at the same time, respecting reasonable and acceptable British interests not clashing therewith. He testified to the help already given and likely to continue to be given by foreign residents who should be treated with the traditional hospitality of the Egyptians. The foreigners must live peacefully together for the common good.
