THE ACORN LODGE The fortnightly meeting of the Acorn Lodge, No. 4 was held on Wednesday evening, A. D. Bro. J. Strathern presiding. There was a, good attendance of members and visiting brethren from Gore and Oak of Waikiwi Lodges. Three candidates were initiated and four proposed. After the Boards had reported on the condition of the sick brethren and the other usual lodge business had been transacted, D.P. Bro. W. H. Stephenson, accompanied by M.C. Bro. W. Steel, was received officially, welcomed and installed the following officers for the ensuing six months:—J.P.A.,'Bro. J. Strathern; A.D., Bro. Wm. Sharfe; V.A., Bro. G. McDermott, junr.; secretary, Bro. F. C. Barham ; treasurer, Bro. W. White; 1.G., Bro. T. Donaldson; 0.G., Bro. Hagen; A. D. Bards, Bros. G. McDermott, senr., and J. D. Gregg; V.A. Bards, Bros. Sharp and P. E. Flegg; M.S., Bro. A. A. Low; M.C., Bro. J. B. E. Winder; representatives to Grand Lodge, Bros. Low and White; representatives on Friendly Society Dispensary, Bros. Gregg and A. Sherbourne;- Organist, Bro. E. Perry. The balance-sheet submitted for sbq months showed sick pay to have totalled £313 9/2, doctor and chemists’ fees £258 6/-, salaries £45 10/6, funeral claims £lO and maternity claims £96. The Management Fund had a credit of £298 12/and Consolidated Sick and Funeral Fund £75,375 14/2; membership 406. The Lodge then went into harmony and entertained the D.P. and visiting brethren, when the usual toasts were honoured, musical items being contributed by Bros. Sharp, A. McGruer, Stirrat and Sharfe.
