FIRE AT RABAUL

REPORTS MUCH EXAGGERATED. (By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright). MELBOURNE, November 19. (Received November 19, 8 p.m.) A radio regarding the fire in Chinatown at Rabaul has been received. Senator Pearce states that a small amount of looting occurred. The report does not refer to the allegation that whites started the fire deliberately in order to burn out the Chinese. The Administrator attributes the exaggerated reports first received to Free Lance journalists seeking copy and to stories from excited Chinese.
