Giving evidence at the inquiry into pony racing, Frederick Hodges, formerly presid ent of the Pony Owners’ and Trainers’ Association, said he knew of a case where a pony entered a race at Victoria Park, was backed by the Stewards, that it lost, and that the trainer was disqualified for twelve months on the following race day.
