ACCOUNTS

A UAL MEETING OF SOCIETY. The annual meeting of the Southland Accountants’ Society was held yesterday afternoon, Mr F. A. Barclay presiding. The election of officers for the ensuing year resulted as follows:—President, Mr V. A Barclay (reelected), committee, Messrs W. A. Ott, C. W. Brown, A. C. Featherstone, G. W. Wilson, J. B. Reid, R. P. Gillies and D. Cuthbertson. Mr E. V. Paul was appointed secretary in place of Mr Cuthbertson, resigned. Mr Barclay, in outlining the programme for the ensuing year, said he would like to see the Society co-operating with and assisting students of the district. If they expected the students to join the Society eventually they would have to be prepared to assist them. The practising members of the Society might give lectures on subjects connected with the examinations. It was decided to refer the matter to the committee for their favourable consideration.
