LAND BOARD

MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of the Southland Land Board took place last Thursday, when there were present: —Mr R. S. Galbraith (Commissioner of Crown Lands), and Messrs James Fleming, John Carmichael and James Hargest. The following application for the Fee Simple was approved: Section 58 , Block VIII., Campbelltown Hundred, 99 acres 1 rood 23 poles.—William Treloar. CORRESPONDENCE. Owen Taylor offered £1 per annum for a temporary right over the islands m Oreti River opposite Section 29 Block XII and 220/221 Block VIII. Hokonui District (about 20 acres). —Refused, and year to year right granted to the adjoining owner at 35/- per annum. Messrs Macalister Bros., solicitors, applied for the consent of the Board to the vesting in Florence Rose Ellis of the closed road containing 4 acres 1 rood 4 poles adjoining Education Reserve, Section 34 Block VII Winton Hundred; to the vesting in Cornelius Henry Lawrence of the closed road containing 2 roods 10 perches adjoining Crown Reserve Section 70 Block XIII New River Hundred, and to the taking for road purposes of an area of 2 roods 7.7 perches for which there is no title being part of the old bed of the Oreti River. —Approved. The temporary license granted over Section 11 Block II Campbelltown Hundred, 34 acres 1 rood 23 poles was cancelled, and year to year right is to be offered to Mr M. C. Davidson at £2 10/- per annum. The Southland Sawmilling Company, per W. H. Brent, applied for a further extension of time in which to cut out the timber on Sawmill Area No. 588 in Block VI. Alton S.D.—Twelve months extension at ground rental of £lO to be recommended for approval to Hon. Minister of Lands. The General Manager of the Tourist Department requested that Sections 51/70 Marakura Township be leased to the Tourist Department with a view to running the land in connection with the Te Anau Hotel. —Temporary license over unleased land in Marakura Township (Lake Te Anau) grant, ed to Mr E. C. Govan at £5 per annum.
