The members of the Winton Tennis Club paid a surprise visit to Mr and Mrs T. Walker on Wednesday evening. Dr Gow, president of the Club, took the opportunity of making a presentation to both Mr and Mrs Walker, showing the Club’s appreciation of Mr Walker in giving them the use of his rooms for their meeting. Dancing, singing and cards were indulged in and a very pleasant time was spent. Haggitt, Ivo Carr and Pott-inger gave a rinking party in the King’s Hall. There were a number of onlookers as well as those who enjoyed the skating. The music for the main part of the dance was suplied by Humphries’ Orchestra while extras were played by Messrs Hinton, Thomson and Sievwright. The decorations for the hall were of paper streamers attached from the ceiling by string. One glance at Victoria Hall on WedM»day evening would tell you that the danoa held there had something to do with Mrwi H. and J. Smith, Ltd., for in the centre of the hall hanging from the roof was a huge white aeroplane. From the aeroplane was hung festoons of greenery and other parts of the hall were decorated with coloured electric lights. Humphries orchestra was in much better form than they were on Monday evening and the jaxs effects were very good. Mrs Padget played the muse for the extras. The supper was brought in to the hall on tables and everything was cleared away again in a very short time. It was very disappointing that the music by wireless couldn’t come through. The only thing heard was a cornet solo from Gisborne, and this was not heard by those in the hall. The confetti and twilight dances were extremely pretty. Some of those present were:—Mr and Mrs J. W. Smith, Mr and Mrs T. H. Scamxnell, Mr and Mrs W. S. Robinson, Mr and Mrs J. KTcCroetie, Mr and Mrs S.
