FOOTBALL

TO-DAY’S FIXTURES. The second series of the Saturday competition will be played to-day, two senior matches, Pirates and Invercargill, and Stai and Bluff, being set down for Rugby Park. Pirates have been strengthening their team for the present competition and their defeat of Waikiwi last Saturday under conditions in favour of the suburbanites indicate that they will present a stiff proposition to the strong Invercargill side, despite their heavy losses of. the present season and if the weather keeps fine a good game should result. Bluff will come up from the seaport to meet the newly entered Star team, and with the element of doubt as to the actual strength of these sides, anything may happen. It is bound to be interesting.—(advt.).
