DANNEVIRKE RACING CLUB. WELLINGTON, June 21. The following are the Dannevirke Racing Club’s re-handicaps:— Dannevirke Steeplechase—Raumauwhiri 10.1. Oringi Welter —Merry Bells 9.0. Hack and Hunters’ Steeplechase—Raumawhiri 11.2. For the Dannevirke Hunt Club meeting;— Hunt Cup Steeplechase—Raumauwhiri 11.3. Kaitoke Welter—Merry Bells 9.13. ROYAL HUNT CLUB. In the Royal Hunt Cup, Weathervane was ridden by Ingham, Rockpie by the New Zealander, F. Voight, and Jarvie by Beasley. Weathervane raced into the lead a quarter of a mile from home and responded to every challenge, winning by a length, Jarvie the same distance away third. This is the first big race of its kind the King has won for many years, and his victory evoked unparalleled enthusiasm. Weathervane has not been prominent since he began his turf career in the Royal colours. ATHLETICS. CARR’S FIRST SUCCESS. STOCKHOLM, June 20. (Received June 21, 7.15 p.m.) Hutton has arrived well. Carr won the 60 metres race at Christiania in 6 4-ssec. TENNIS. % WIMBLEDON CHAMPIONSHIPS. LONDON, June 21. (Received June 21, 10.40 pan.) The draw for the Wimbledon tennis championship shows that Lacoste, Washer, Johnston, Norton, Crawley and Woosnum will play in the first half and Lycett, Degomar, Fyzee, Greig, Mishu, Gilbert, and F. Lowe in the second half. There is a possibility that Mdlle. Lenglen will meet Mrs Mallory in the semi-final. Misses Ryan and McKane will .probably be the other semi-finalists. BOXING. CARPENTIER AND BECKETT. LONDON, June 21. (Received June 21, 10.40 p.m.) It is announced that Carpentier is willing to postpone the fight to July 19, provided Beckett to-day deposits £lOOO appearance money. Beckett is consulting a specialist again before replying. GOLF. ENGLISH CHAMPIONSHIP. (By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright.) (Australian and N.Z. Press Association.) LONDON, June 21. The second qualifying round was played at Gleneagles in beautiful weather and was noted for the brilliant scores of Jones, aged 52, the veteran professional of Wimbledon Park. He played without a flaw and broke the record for the score with a round of 67, out 35, and home 32, which is the best effort of his long career. Kirkwood did not live up to yesterday’s form and took 75. Following are the leading scores for the second round and aggregates:—Oke 70 and 143; Jones 67 and 143; Ball 70 and 145; Ray 73 and 146; Kirkwood 75 and 146; Barnes 74 and 147; Havers 65 and 147. The thirty-two leaders begin the match to-morrow.
