ABOUT PEOPLE

The chairman (Mr C. J. Brodrick) and Messrs C. S. Longuet, J. Miller and Chewings, were yesterday appointed by the Council of the Southland League as an afforestation committee.

Mr David Dickie, chairman of the Gore Sub-Executive of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union, has decided to take a trip 0o the South Sea Islands for health reasons. Mr Dickie will leave to-day. After seven years’ service on the staff of the Southland Boys’ High School, Mr M. Alexander is leaving shortly to take up the position of mathematics master at Napier Boys’ High School. Mr Alexander is an “old boy” of the Southland Boys’ High School and had a brilliant career at Otago University.
