PENSION OVERPAID

ELDERLY WOMAN CHARGED. (Per United Press Association.) TIMARU, June 20. In .he Magistrate’s Court before Mr E. Moshj, S.M., the Commissioner of Pensions claimed from an elderly woman, Mary 0 Donoghue, £79 10/-, being double the amount of pension* overpaid to the defendart. as the result of the woman's having faded to disclose that she had £433 in the Bank. The defendant was also charged with having fraudulently obtained a pension of a greater amount than she was entitled to get. After hearing the evidence the Magistrate held that a breach of the Pensions Act had been committed and ordered tue amount of the pension overpaid to be refunded. On the money being paid into the Court, the criminal charge, formally entervG, was dismissed.
