IMPROVEMENTS TO SHIPS (By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright.) (Australian and N.Z. Press Association.) WASHINGTON, June 19. (Received June 20, 5.5 p.m.) Naval officials re affirmed the contention cabled on April 8 that the angle of fire of American battleships’ guns should be elevated, but preferably after a conference with the Powers signatory to the fivepower treaty in order to clear up British objections to such an elevation.
