MISS RANSOME’S DEATH. (Per United Press Association). DANNEVIRKE, June 19. The inquest concerning the death of Joyce Ransome, who died as the result of injuries sustained in the railway crossing accident on Friday last was concluded today. The driver of the car which was run into by the train said that he did not see the train till within six yards of the crossing. Before he could do anything the train was on them. Miss Ransome jumped from the car and was struck by the engine. The Coroner found that death was due to shock and injuries through a collision. In a rider he considered that trains went at an excessive speed over the crossing and urged the need for the installation of publit safeguards. OLD MAN FOUND .DROWNED. AUCKLAND, June 19._ The body of James Arthur Brown, 70, of George street, Mount Eden, was found this morning in a dam at Western Spring!, lying face down in 2 feet of water. The deceased had been missing since Saturday morning. He had been in indifferent health lately. WELLINGTON, June 19. R. G. Mervell, a well known resident of Petone was found unconscious in the street last Friday and was taken to the hospital. He never regained consciousness and died yesterday. An inquest was held. It wae stated that the deceased had suffered from tha effects of bright’s disease.
