At a meeting of the Auckland Acclimatiaation Society recently, Senior-Sergeant Mathew applied for, and was granted, the society’s reward of £2O for securing each of the first two convictions for shooting game out of season (re[x>rts an exchange) The chairman, Mr C. A. Whitney, said he thought they should write to the Magistrate and point out that the convictions cost the society £4O, whereas he imposed a fine of only £4.
