The Kamo (Captain McPherson > arrived from Dunedin at 9 p.m. on Saturday. She will discharge 450 tons of coal, 68 tons of which is for the Bluff Harbour Board. She will load a small quantity of general [ cargo, and sail for the West Coast via Dunedin. The Tairoa, 7983 tons (Captain Summers' arrived from Dunedin at 9 a.m. yesterday. She will load a quantity of wool, tallow, I and frozen meat. Her next port of call is Wellington. FARE REDUCTIONS. Cable advices received last week from London by Mr D. L. Dowdell, chairman of the Overseas Shipping Representatives’ Association in Australia, show that slight reductions are to be made in the fares from Australia to Europe. The single first-class minimum rates by the Aberdeen and Blue Funnel lines, and by the Orient Company’s intermediate steamers, have been reduced from £96 to £92, and the minimum rates by the P. and O. and Orient Company’s mail steamers will in future be £llO, as against £ll4. The existing other rates in the first saloon are maintained. As far as second-class saloon is concerned, the mail steamers’ rates will range from £B2 to £B6. as against the present figures of £B6 and £9O. Alterations will also be made in connection with the bookings from Sydney by the New Zealand Shipping Company and the Shaw Savill, and Albion Company’s vessels. Their saloon minimum rates is to be £llO, instead of £ll4, and their secondclass fares will range from £B2 to £B7. figures all relate to rates of passage money from Sydney, and will come into operation in connection with bookings for steamers appointed to leave their first port of loading in Australia on the Homeward .Voyage, on or after August 1 of this year.
