CONTROL OF PRICES. (By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright). (Australian and N.Z. Cable Association.) CAPETOWN, June 14. The Assembly debated a Labour motion to empower the Governor-General on the recommendation of the Board of Trade to control the wholesale and retail price of supplies if necessary, to protect the public from the effect of agreements in restraint of trade by trusts, combines or monopolies. General Smuts said the motion went too far. The vesting of power of investigation in the Board, which would report to Parliament, would be sufficient. The House lould then say what action was necessary.
