Sir William Robertson Nicoll, the editor of the British Weekly was contemplating retirement a few weeks before his death. In April the Glasgow Herald announced that he had resigned the editorship and named his successor. Miss Stoddart, who was associated with Sir Robertson Nicoll for many years in the editorial management and who contributed regularly to the British Weekly under several pen names, of which “Lorna” is one, remains with the paper.
