EASTERN DISTRICT SUB-UNION. WEEKLY MEETING. The weekely meeting of the Management Committee of the Eastern District SubUnion was held in the secretary's office, Gore, on Thursday evening, there being present Messrs McConnell (in the chair), Miller, Murray, Whittingham, Aitken, Martin, Piller, Mac Gibbon, Fitzgerald, and Green.

The Edendale Club forwarded a statement in connection with the protest against their third-grade team lodged by Wyndham. Both the players complained of were over age, and one had played two games in the seconds and one in the firsts. On the disbandment of the second grade team he had decided to play thirds, thinking he was still eligible.—lt was decided that the game be replayed at the end of the season if necessary. The Mat aura Ladies’ Hockey Club wrote asking for a donation from the gate-money collected at Mataura on May 23, as there was a game of hockey played on the adjoining ground that day, and there were a number of hockey supporters present.—lt was resolved to hold the matter over until the end of the season.

The secretary Southland Rugby Union wrote asking if the Sub-Union were in favour of continuing the competition for the Sports Protection League Banner under the existing conditions.—lt was decided to obtain the views of the senior clubs of the district before replying. A Todd was granted a transfer from Zingari (Timaru) to Mataura. The treasurer reported that the takings at the Bible Class match on June 4 amounted to £3 ss. The amount was voted to the Bible Class Committee, towards the expenses of the visiting team. The manager of the rep. team on June 4 forwarded his report. A vote of thanks to the S.R.F.U. officials for the hospitable manner in which the team was entertained was passed, and a similar vote was accorded the manager (Mr Martin) for the admirable way in which he had carried out his duties. It was decided to apply to the Mat aura Borough Council for permission to charge admission to the Mat aura grounds on two further days in the season.
