TO-DAY’S RUGBY

GALBRAITH SHIELD FINAL. A series of exciting matches should be witnessed to-day as a result of the meetings between Marist and Old Boys and Invercargill, Star and Waikiwi and Bluff versus Pirates. The first clash between Marist and Blues will commence at 1.30 pjn. and some stirring football should result. The Greens have, under their coach, Mr H. Grace, improved out of all recognition during the last few weeks and should reverse their previous defeat at the hands of Invercargill. The big draw should prove the match between Star and Waikiwi, which is timed to commence at 3 p.m. diarp. The suburbanites contend that they were caught napping on the last occasion they played Star as they had no chance to get their team together but are confident that to-morrow with the services of Richardson and White that they will revenge their previous defeat. The Rugby Union have decided that, in future matches must commence at the advertised time so patrons will be &ell advised to be in their places early. As this will be the last occasion, owing to the change in the half holiday, on which the present six senior teams will be seen in action it is anticipated that a record crowd will be in attendance.
