S’anley Baldwin’s statement in the House of Commons. The Journal says it is the declaration of • man in a bad temper, though he may Bot have realised it. Le Eclair says: In order to embarrass Mr Bonar Law, M. Poincare only need submit France’s debit account for devastated areas and ask this great man of justice whether franco or Germany should pay. LORD CURZON OFFENDS. (Reuter’s Telegrams.) PARIS, May 9. Die newspapers are indignant at Lord Curzon’s statement and consider that the criticisms of Franco-Belgian action is unfounded. Diey hope that the incident, which is generally considered a question of amour-propre, will not have any serious jonsequences. INCITING RAILWAY WORKERS. HIGH OFFICIALS SENTENCED. PARIS, May 10. (Received May 10, 9.5 p.m.) Sentences of four to five years’ imprisonment were passed by the Mayence court martial on high German railway officials charged with inciting railway workers in the Ruhr to resist orders of the French.
