To the Editor. Sir, —The taunt of your correspondent “A believer in British fair play” anent the Catholic Federation fails to get there when the circumstances are reviewed. After all we must judge by the evidence obtainable and there is no evidence to suggest that the Federation took nny active part in the last InvercarEill Municipal Election campaigns the Federation was primar.i.. • ahc-j into being for the purpose of attempting to obtain capitation grants for Catholic schools. Nothing sinister about that surely, even though one may not be in sympathy with the object! Other denominations have their schools and would no doubt be glad to obtain monetary asdstance from the Government. At one ime in its history the Federation, or cerain of its more hot-headed members atempted to use the big stick and were justly condemned for that, but I repeat that there is no evidence at present that the Federation is working on the same lines as the ’.P.A. The P.P.A. has raised the bogey of Catholic Domination” in order to increase >s membership and justify its existence. What rot it all is. In the present state f society when the great majority of civil■rd beings are frankly non-Christian, can ay reasonable person suppose that any ne Christian denomination could ever ominate the world? The day when such hings were possible is gone, never to reurn. In any case we have no desire to be ominated by the P.P.A. I am, etc., ANGLICAN.
