BURDEN OF INTEREST. LONDON, May 8. The Hon Stanley Baldwin replying to a question in the House of Commons said that the average interest on Britain s debt excluding the floating debt was about 4* per cent. Including the floating debt it was less. This interest was practically all liable to income tax and super tax and if allowance was made for this the rate did not compare unfavourably with the rate Britain was paying to the United States. BRITISH NOTE TO SOVIET VIOLATION OF TRADE AGREEMENT LONDON, May 8. (Received May 9, 7.10 p.m.) The British Note despatched to Moscow contains a severe and comprehensive protest at recent acts against British subjects, and also against Russian propaganda.
