W.C.T.U.
SOCIAL AFTERNOON. The Central Branch of the W.C.T.U. held an enjoyable social afternoon in the Baptist Church on Tuesday, May 1. Mrs F. Lillicrap presided, and welcomed about 80 mem. bers and friends. Mrs Sharp sang a solo and the Rev. Mr Sharp gave a short address. Afternoon tea was handed round and a collection taken up for the organising funds. Mrs Young reported having formed a young peoples’ branch in Riverton. Mrs Baird moved a silent vote of sympathy with Mr C. W. Brown on the death of his wife, who was the local W.C.T.U.’s first president. It was decided to hold the monthly meetings in the Baptist Church. The president made an earnest appeal for members, after which seven were initiated and one joined by transfer.
