POLICE AND CROWD IN CONFLICT. (By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright,)(Australian and N.Z. Cable Association.) PARIS, May 2. In connection with the May Day demonstrations four police were hemmed in by the crowd near the Labour headquarters. One of them was stabbed in the back. The police drew swords and batons and attacked the crowd. The conflict lasted half an hour and several were injured. DEMONSTRATION IN MADRID. MADRID, May 2. Thousands of workers participated in May Day demonstrations. All was orderly till dispersing, when a group of demonstrators came into conflict with the police and an ugly situation developed. Tjae police fired, killing two and wounding two. HYDE PARK RESOLUTION. LONDON, May 2. Hyde Park May Day Demonstrators adopted a resolution in favour of a Workers’ Commonwealth.
