Shortly after noon yester- | day it was discovered that the port re- ' frigerating engine, upon which repairs had j been carried out while the vessel was com- j pleting loading, had developed trouble caused by the condenser. The extent of the : damage was not known early this afternoon, but it is hoped to despatch the liner in two ’ or three days for Avonmouth. WELLINGTON, April 30. : The trouble with the Whakatane which | compelled her to put back to port after , tearing for West of England ports, was with the engines in the refrigerating plant. It was stated to-day that repairs would be effected in two or three days. The Whakatane will sail on Wednesday. WEATHER FORECAST. WELLINGTON, April 30.
