SAFETY AT SEA

life saving apparatus. ! (By Telegraph—Press . Assn. —Copyright.) (Australian and N.Z. Cable Association.) LONDON, April 26. (Received April 27, 8.5 m.p.) The Merchant Shipping Advisory Committee’s report regarding life saving appliances on passenger steamships, recommends that sufficient boats for all aboard should be carried as far as possible without encumbering the decks and impeding prompt handling of lifeboats. Where this cannot be done the deficiency in accommodation should be met by means of a light buoyant apparatus. In any case in addition to boat accommodation for all, a light buoyant apparatus should be provided for twenty-five per cent, of those aboard, also motor boats with wireless shbuid be carried in certain cases.
