KNOCKED DOWN BY CAR. (Per United Press Association) WELLINGTON, April 27. At the inquest on Herbert Reginald Johnson, killed as a result of being knocked down by a motor car driven by Thomas F. Bailey, the Coroner returned a verdict that the cause of death was a fractured skull received through being knocked down by a motor car negligently driven by Bailey, who ignored all notices warning motorist* against trams and excessive speed. RETURNED SOLDIER’S DEATH. MASTERTON, April 27. While fording cattle through the Whsteam a rivei this morning, C. N. Stilborn found the body of a man considerably decomposed lying in two feet of water. The body was later identified as Frank Marshall, aged 33, a returned soldier who had been working in the district for 18 month*. Deceased was missing since April 14.
