Sadli Leconte, the aviator, broke the world’s speed record, attaining a rate of 377 kilometres an hour for the four kilometres’ championship of Britain and France. The new record attained at Marseilles covered four circuits of a four kilometres course at an average of 233 miles hourly. He covered the first circuit at the rate of 244 miles hourly, beating the record of 223 miles recently made in the United States.
