WORK OF REJUVENATION. ACHIEVEMENT OF LEAGUE OF NATIONS. (By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright.) (Reuter’s Telegrams.) PARIS, February 1. (Received February 2, 7.25 p.m.) The successful progress in the reconstruction of Austria under the auspices of the League of Nations was emphasised by all speakers at the meeting of the Councif of the League of Nationd. Lord Balfoui described the League’s work in this regard as the greatest constructive effort so far made to extricate Europe from economic chaos. He appealed to investors to subscribe to the Austrian loan. Following the appeal by the Austrian Chancellor, the Italian, French and Czecho-Slovakjan representatives announced their willingnes to conclude commercial treaties' with Austria. THE LEAGUE OF NATION’S SUGGES TION. WASHINGTON, February 1. The State Department has issued a state ment that the United States Government looks with favour on the League of Nations Council’s suggestion that a conference of Powers which did not take part in the Washington Arms Conference be called for the purpose of limiting naval armaments.
