ACCIDENTS & FATALITIES
AUCKLAND MISHAPS. (Per United Press Association.; AUCKLAND, October 8. Numerous arcidente occunwl in the city yesterday. Willian John MacDermott. secretary of the Auckland Alliance, received serious iryuries through being knocked down by a tram. It is stater! that Mac DermotJ was proceeding along Queen street, when the wind lifted his hat acroas the street. He ran out to recover it, and not noticing a tram car, he ran right into it MacDermott sustained severe injuries to his head aud is still unconscious. A McMath, married, aged 42, was knocked down by a tram in Queen street and sustained a fractured skull. Thomas McFadden, aged 45, was knocked down by a motor in the city and was slightly injured. Charles Guthrie, who was driving a team, collided with a motor bus and sustained severe cuts. TIMBER WORKER KILLED. ROTORUA, Octol>er 7. A. McPherson, married, aged 40. was killed by being crushed between, two logs in the bush at. Mungarua. He was employed by the National Timber Company.
