AUSTRALIAN SERVICES

THE UNION VESSELS. UNCONFIRMED REPORTS. (Special to the Times). CHRISTCHURCH, October 3. A report, that the Union Steam Ship Company proposed laying off the Paloona from the Melbourne run and replacing this vessel with the Moeraki was not confirmed by the Christchurch office of the Company to-day. A rejxjrter was iaiormed that no advice had been received of this proposal, nor had the office any information of another report that the Marama would replace the Moeraki on the Sydney-Wellington run. A report from Dunedin some time ago stated that if the Paloona was found to be too small during the summer months she would be replaced by a larger vessel. No news of such action, however, has yet come from the head office of the Company.
