SHOES AND FASHIONS

DIRECT FROM GREAT BRITAIN. New Zealand is a great producing country. Compare it with any other country of similar size and population and little New Zealand comes in an easy first. Our mild climate, copious rainfall and fertile soil all help to make tins dominion a wonderful wee country. While we can produce everything we wear we are still dc- ' pendent upon Englund to give us the lead ■in fashions. Ladies eagerly wan the Eng- . lish fashion journals for the latest in dress; we also look to England to give us the dead in smart footwear. It is fortunate for the womenfolk of Southland that Mr S. McDonald of the City Boot Palace is at present in England. Immediately on his •{rival he visited the great footwear houses and has secured not only the latest fashionable shoes but some wonderful values in everyday footwear. By the s-s. Port Napier sixteen cases came to hand, altogether-about 5000 pairs. With such a quantity the variety is large and Mr McDonald has studied the wants of all classes from the dainty patent leather evening shoe to the comfortable velvet house slipper. By dealing direct with the manufacturers he has been able to buy at the lowest bedrock prices. These goods will be offered to the public on Friday morning, and it goes without saying that they will prove an eye-opener for shoe values m Southland.—(Advt.)
